$100 Million Milestone Reached in Support of QAGOMA
The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) today announced that the Gallery's primary fundraising body, the QAGOMA Foundation, has reached the historic milestone of $100 million raised since its establishment in 1979.
QAGOMA Foundation President Tim Fairfax AC said the milestone would not have been possible without the generosity of the many supporters from across Australia and around the world who have contributed to the Foundation over the past 36 years.
'On behalf of the QAGOMA Foundation Committee, I would like to thank all Foundation members and supporters for their outstanding generosity. Their foresight in supporting the QAGOMA Foundation ensures the Gallery is able to continue to develop the Collection and deliver outstanding exhibitions and programs for future generations.
'The Foundation's contributors have enabled the acquisition of over a third of the Gallery's Collection and many memorable and transformative experiences with art and artists,' said Mr Fairfax.
QAGOMA Director Chris Saines CNZM said 2014 brought the Foundation many reasons to celebrate, both in reaching the significant milestone of $100 million raised, as well as launching a new special interest group.
'Launched last November, the QAGOMA Future Collective is a new initiative that brings together young budding philanthropists who share a passion for art and culture, fostering the next generation of Gallery supporters.
'Donations received through the Future Collective annually are used to support a special project chosen by the Collective itself, giving members a truly hands on experience,' said Mr Saines.
