Elijah-Jade Bowen

Elijah-Jade Bowen is an emerging performer connected to her First Nations country of the Mununjali, Nunukul, Guugu Yimithirr peoples. At the age of 3 years, Elijah-Jade first stepped into a dance studio, where a love and passion for the art was nurtured and developed across many dance genres. In 2021, Elijah-Jade commenced full-time training in classical ballet and contemporary at the Queensland Ballet Academy. Elijah-Jade is paving a pathway in performing and choreographic capabilities, with her self-choregraphed and performed solo Burralga at the 2023 Queensland Ballet Gala season. Elijah-Jade has also featured in multi-protagonist drama film We Are Still Here which was showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022, she leaned into this acting experience to further extend her performing arts practices.

Participation and content

  • You are welcome to come with a friend or by yourself. Many people attend the Gallery solo.
  • We ask all attendees to be kind, respectful, and courteous to all participants, speakers and staff at this event. This program will be monitored by QAGOMA staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our attendees, speakers and staff.

Sensory aspects

  • This performance will commence in the ‘Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses’ exhibition GOMA on Level 1, with performer moving throughout Room 5 and 6 of Gallery 1.1.
  • Sound amplification will be utilised during the performance.
  • We try our best to minimise sound in the surrounding space, but sometimes there might be low level noise from a nearby artwork or the sounds of the Gallery.
  • Portable stools without backs will be available upon request.
  • The Gallery air conditioning is set to 21°C to conserve the artworks.
  • This event will be photographed by QAGOMA staff. If you do not wish to be photographed, please advise a QAGOMA staff member on arrival.
