AUSTRALIAN ART'S GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS In what way is Australian life a global experience and how is this reflected through art? In this lecture, Associate Professor Sally Butler, Reader in Art History, School of Communication and Arts, University of Queensland, examines how Australia's global consciousness is expressed in art past and present, applying the work of Ian Fairweather as a lens for understating how art can be used to continually reimagine ourselves. Accompanied by a tailored list of suggested readings and resources. Sally Butler is Associate Professor and Reader in Art History at the University of Queensland, specialising in the areas of contemporary Australian art, contemporary Australian Indigenous art and cross-cultural critical theory.
