On his motorcycle mounted with a bullhorn skull, Mora is a cowherd roaming the roads of Senegal with his lover Anta. Together they dream of a new life in Paris and conspire to lay hold of the money needed for their voyage. Djibril Diop Mambéty’s striking masterpiece of African cinema won the International Critics Award at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival.
Restored in 2008 by The World Cinema Foundation at Cineteca di Bologna/L’Immagine Ritrovata in association with the family of Djibril Diop Mambéty. Restoration funding provided by Armani, Cartier, Qatar Airways and Qatar Museum Authority.
