About
Stanley Kubrick's The Shining is one of the great triumphs of American horror cinema. Adapting Stephen King's novel of the same name, Kubrick brings his renowned visual mastery to the film, crafting a uniquely iconic ghost story that engulfs audiences in its oppressive atmosphere.
In an electric and often unhinged performance, Jack Nicholson plays author Jack Torrance. He moves with his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd) into the isolated Overlook Hotel to act as caretaker over a snowy winter. The violent history of the Hotel soon reveals itself with supernatural presences and an ever-growing sense of madness that seems to seep through the walls and patterned carpets.
