A neo-neo-haunting from actor and podcast provocateur Dasha Nekrasova. The Scary of Sixty-First is the story of two young women in New York City who find their perfect apartment at a price that seems too good to be true. The reason for the incredible deal: the apartment used to be owned by disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and it is spiritually infected by the vileness of his crimes. The two housemates take divergent paths in the aftermath of this revelation, with one increasingly into a conspiratorial rabbit hole by her new friend, played by director Nekrasova.

The film has been met with both controversy and acclaim, winning the Best First Feature Award at the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival while simultaneously provoking critical fulminations. It takes the traditional 'ghost story' in new directions: ditching candelabras for internet deep dives and a lofi 16mm aesthetic that brings electricity to the streets of contemporary New York City.
