About
The New World is a historical epic that holds equal cinematic space for brutality and wonder. It is a lusciously shot account of the English arrival in America and the meeting between Captain John Smith and Pocahontas of the Powatan Native American tribe. Director Terrence Malick grounds his version of this apocryphal historical moment not only in the details of nature, but the detail of the humans within the tale – highlighting the emotions, uncertainty and loves of his characters.
