About
The Lobster is an absurdist take on the future of love and relationships, where candidates who fail to find their perfect love match are transformed into an animal of their own choosing.
In Yorgos Lanthimos’s alternate vision of the future, single people are arrested and are transferred to an ominous-looking hotel where they are obliged to find a partner in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into a self-selected animal and released into the adjacent woods. A desperate man named David (Colin Farrell), escapes from the hotel and flees into the nearby forest, where he then joins a renegade group known as ‘The Loners’. Ironically, David then falls in love, much to the dismay and disapproval of the group leader (Léa Seydoux). One of Lanthimos’s most highly regarded films, this multi award-winning and Academy Award-nominated film is a unique and highly memorable love story.
