About
Co-written by Truman Capote, The Innocents is a spine-chilling, gothic take on Henry James' "Turn of the Screw'. Deborah Kerr plays Miss Giddens, an inexperienced governess given stead over the orphaned niece and nephew of a wealthy bachelor. Her tenure takes a dark turn as she soon comes to believe that the grounds of the estate may be haunted by the ghosts of the previous governess and her cruel lover. Intricately crafted and dripping with atmosphere, this is an elegant psychological horror film that has lost none of its terrifying power.
