About
José, a young engineer holidaying in a small town, finds himself beguiled by a local teenage boy who can seemingly summon and stop the wind at will. When the boy mysteriously disappears, José is put on trial for his murder and the nature of their relationship becomes the subject of public suspicion.
A major early work of queer Brazilian cinema – one made under the cultural persecution of the country’s military dictatorship – The Boy and the Wind is a poignant parable about the transcendent power of passion. Blending scenes of tense legal drama with magical realist romance, Argentinian director Carlos Hugo Christensen crafts a deeply moving tale of forbidden longing.
