About
A story told across three generations, the genre defying Taxidermia is a darkly comedic and visually arresting film that bridges the fantastical and the grotesque to explore the human desires of love, fame and immortality.
An anthology of sorts, the film begins with the story of a World War Two orderly looking to fulfil a series of bizarre fantasies. The orderly then has a son, who grows up to become an aspiring speed eater and father to a professional taxidermist.
Winner of nine awards and nominated for the Uncertain Regard prize at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, Taxidermia combines surrealist comedy-drama with body horror to create a metaphorical socio-political retelling of Hungary's history from the Second World War to the present day.
Taxidermia will screen from a 35mm archival print.
