Even the rain is for sale in Bolivia. A Spanish film crew led by idealistic director Sebastian (Gael Garcia Bernal) and hard-nosed producer Costa (Luis Tosar) are shooting a film about the exploits of Christopher Colombis. They become aware of local unrest when one of their key Bolivian actors is beaten up by police as he protests the privatisation of local water. Based on the real-life struggle to commodify water supply in Cochabamba, Even the Rain is a powerful film that links a community's access to land and resources with autonomy, economic freedom and dignity.
