About
The two-part narrative of Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul's Tropical Malady begins as a shy, sensual love story between handsome solider Keng and country boy Tong. Pervaded by the heady presence of the jungle, the second half transforms into a surreal exploration of the natural spirit as Keng, again in the character of a solider, who is hunting or perhaps being hunted by a tiger. Winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2004, the film explores first love, desire and a spirituality that is rooted in the landscape.
