About
The splendour of Norway’s landscape serves as the immense backdrop to director Margreth Olin’s epic exploration of how the places we inhabit and the people we share our life with, make us who we are. Songs of the Earth starts as a personal portrait of her parents, notably her 85-year-old father, who has lived his entire life within the remote valleys of Oldedalen, Nordfjord and expands to capture the spectacular beauty of the deep green valleys, crystal clear waterways and frozen lakes he constantly hikes through. Olin, along with her creative team of cinematic artists, craft a breathtaking documentary, that showcases the glorious mountains, glaciers, flora and fauna across Norway’s four seasons. Complementing this, is Olin’s observation of her parents, who recall their own intimacies, histories, and first-hand experiences living side-by-side with nature. In an environment that delivers both joyful and stark realities, a journey of wonder unfolds with sheer poeticism.
