About
Drawing inspiration from the works of pioneering filmmakers such as Gregg Araki, Sequin in a Blue Room is a bold, queer coming-of-age story from Samuel Van Grinsven. Conor Leach plays the pseudonymous ‘Sequin’, a 16-year-old boy who scrolls from one anonymous hook-up to the next. His run of detached sex is disrupted, however, when a sensual encounter at a party spurs deeper feelings. Produced on a micro-budget, this stylish debut is both an evocative exploration of youthful sexuality as well as an intelligent depiction of the increasingly blurred merging of real-life with online personae.
