About
The debut feature of firebrand filmmaker Michael Moore, Roger & Me is a furious yet darkly comic documentary about the closure of several General Motors factories in Moore’s hometown of Flint, Michigan. Determined to track down GM’s CEO Roger Smith for an interview about the economic devastation that this decision will wreak on the city, Moore finds himself stymied at every turn. The documentary uses its fruitless quest to secure the presence of its central subject not only as a compelling narrative device but as a potent metaphor for the gaping hole at the heart of the capitalistic pursuit of profit and the obstructions those wielding power can utilise to escape accountability.
Please note: this film contains a scene featuring animal violence.
