"I sent [Werner Herzog] the film, and he liked it. I remember very specifically, he said: 'I'm so glad this is not an agenda movie or I would run like mad and get away from here.' I mean, we can talk about sustainability issues, about plastic, about the Earth, but the movie's about something else, something more … it's about a journey" – Ramin Bahrani
A short film directed by acclaimed filmmaker and friend of Werner Herzog, Ramin Bahrani (Chop Shop 2007, 99 Homes 2015). The film follows a plastic bag as it floats through the world, searching for its Maker and a sense of meaning in a seemingly indifferent world. As the bag journeys across the country, through the sky and into the ocean, its thoughts and feelings are provided in narration, delivered by Herzog in his iconic Bavarian brogue. Plastic Bag is a deeply moving, and at times comic, short film that acts as a reminder of the lasting influence Herzog has left on generations of filmmakers.
