About
Pickpocket Skip McCoy (Richard Widmark) gets more than he bargains for when he inadvertently nabs a strip of Top Secret microfilm from a woman on the subway. This mistake quickly makes him and Candy (Jean Peters), the woman from whom he stole it, targets for devious federal agents - as well as members of a treasonous Communist cell. Samuel Fuller brings his trademark high intensity to this brilliantly crafted piece of Cold War paranoia where, as film critic Chuck Bowen describes it, the cast of characters is a "lurid cavalcade of unforgettable oddballs who collectively show America to be a place of cracked schemers and dreamers working for their own interest."
