About
Terence Davies' vibrant tribute to his childhood hometown of Liverpool, Of Time and the City uses painstakingly selected footage from newsreels and home videos to paint a rich portrait of the English city. The film is equal parts loving and unsentimental, with Davies' trademark thoughtful empathy on full display. As he traces Liverpool's development from his 1950s youth to the modern day, the director grapples with the evolution of a city he increasingly struggles to recognise.
