About
The science fiction film Nova by contemporary artist Cao Fei is a vibrant, futurist vision of an alternate reality, where a computer scientist accidentally transforms his own son into a pseudo-digital entity that aimlessly roams across space-time.
Based in the fictious city of Nova, Fei’s evocative storytelling prophesises a future where our physical and metaphysical selves are separated by technology; with our memories and emotions being irrevocably fractured across space and time.
Reflecting the artist’s ongoing interest in the long-term societal effects of advanced economic growth and technological development, Nova waxes poetic on the potential social and ethical impacts of emerging technologies on the future of humanity.
