Long Story Short in an intimate study of poverty and the collective power of speech. The work features the testimonies of more than 100 people recorded at homeless shelters, food banks, adult literacy programs, and job training centres in Los Angeles and the Bay Area in Northern California. Natalie Bookchin uses her distinct approach to editing to create another polyphonic account of modern life, where voices meet and converge around shared experience and opinion. Unlike her previous work made video blogs posted online, Bookchin interviewed the subjects of this work. Each describes their how they feel about being poor and the resourcefulness it takes to manage daily life and homelessness.
