About
James Bond (Roger Moore) investigates the theft of a space shuttle known as ‘Moonraker’, meeting evil inventor and entrepreneur Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale), the creator behind the spacecraft. With the help of scientist Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles), Bond soon discovers Drax’s wicked plans for the ultimate control of the human species. Leaning into the elements of the comical, the low-brow and camp, director Lewis Gilbert’s third film within the established film franchise, sees Agent 007 in a globe-trotting adventure from Carnival in Rio de Janeiro to the canals of Venice. Jumping onto the successful trend of the numerous space films released during the 1970s, Roger Moore’s fourth appearance as Bond sees the spy blast into the world of the science-fiction, and of the space opera, with Bond travelling into the reaches of space for the first-time.
