About
John Cassavetes turns his empathetic lens towards the unlikely romance of Minnie Moore (Gena Rowlands) and Seymour Moskowitz (Seymour Cassel) in this irresistible revisionist screwball comedy. Rowlands and Cassel – two of Cassavetes’ most frequent collaborators – deliver lived-in, complex performances that illustrate the joys and sadnesses of their characters. The film is driven by a whirlwind energy and surprising optimism, while still not shying away from the yearning hearts and spikiness of its lead couple.
When the reticent Minnie (Rowlands) is assailed by a blind date, parking attendant Moskowitz (Cassel) leaps to her defence. Immediately smitten, he desperately seeks Minnie’s affection in his own unpredictable and combustible way, while she tries to make sense of the state of her tumultuous life.
Minnie and Moskowitz will screen from an imported 35mm print.
