The Holy Man is a comedy that playfully warns against blind devotion and false gurus. Following the death of his wife, Gurupada Mitter seeks peace and he and his daughter Buchki consider joining Birinchi Baba's order. Birinchi Baba (Charuprakash Ghosh) is a charismatic guru with money on his mind who claims to have lived long enough to have met and influenced Plato, Jesus, Einstein and Buddha. Buchki's lover Satya is dismayed that their wedding may be cancelled if Buchki takes a vow of chastity as a disciple and sets out to uncover the truth about the guru.
