About
Jessica Hausner’s tense paranoid thriller, Little Joe imagines an alternate future where a genetically engineered plant named ‘Little Joe’ emits a mood-altering pollen, resulting in some sinister consequences.
Single mother Alice is a professional plant breeder tasked with developing a new species that will revolutionise the health and horticultural industries. After numerous trials, Alice successfully breeds a plant (nicknamed 'Little Joe') with an endearing crimson flower that produces a pollen designed to make its owner happy. Once it’s revealed that the plant is sterile, Little Joe starts to find new and unintended ways to evolve and reproduce. Accompanied by a nail-bitingly tense soundtrack that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Little Joe is a vibrant Frankenstein-tale of science-gone-wrong that explores the relationship between creator and creation.
