About
The night sky was dark in Hollywood as all the stars were in Libeled Lady!
A powerhouse cast of Jean Harlow, Spencer Tracy, Myrna Loy and William Powell lead this ebullient farce that received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
The film’s criss-crossing plot centres on a libel suit filed by the wealthy Connie Allenbury (Loy) after the New York Evening Star erroneously reports that she caused the dissolution of another marriage. The newspaper’s desperate editor Warren Haggerty (Tracy) enlists his put-upon fiancée (Harlow) and suave friend (Powell) in an elaborate scheme to wiggle out of the lawsuit.
Libeled Lady will screen from an imported 35mm print.
