About
Otto Preminger's Laura, an adaptation of the novel by Vera Caspary, is a winding path of mystery centred around the murder of the glamorous, eponymous advertising executive, played by Gene Tierney. As the detective in charge of the case, Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews), interviews her friends and colleagues, he begins to fall in love with the idea of her that he has built up in his mind. The cast, which includes Vincent Price as a sneering playboy, do great justice to the crackling script in this masterful New York noir.
