About
The second entry in Lucio Fulci's unofficial 'Gates of Hell' trilogy, which also includes City of the Living Dead 1980 and House by the Cemetery 1981.
After Liza inherits a hotel in Louisiana, she moves south to renovate and restore it. Unbeknownst to her, the hotel is built over one of the Gates of Hell. As Liza begins to fix its crumbling structure, she inadvertently re-opens the Gates, from which pure malevolence spews forth. Working with a local doctor and an ancient tome, she attempts to understand the portal to hell and figure out how to stop the spread of evil.
The Beyond is a feverish and hallucinatory horror experience. Eyes are gouged, blood is spilt, and the intensity creeps up like oppressive heat from a Louisiana swamp. It unleashes a stream-of-consciousness terror that vibrates with an intense frenzy. This is the Bitches Brew of horror cinema.
