About
Recently described by The Guardian as ‘Australia’s scariest and best homegrown thriller’, Lake Mungo is a powerful portrait of the reverberations of grief. After teenager Alice drowns in a dam during an outing in Ararat, her family finds themselves seemingly haunted by visions of her ghost throughout their house. Their attempts to resolve this mystery result in even more questions as the dark complications of Alice’s life begin to reveal themselves. Utilising the cinematic language of a documentary and drawing clear inspiration from 'Twin Peaks', Joel Anderson’s debut – and to date, only – feature film is an intelligent and terrifying entry in the Australian horror canon.
