About

Set inside a psychiatric hospital, A Page of Madness follows an elderly man who has become the institute's janitor in order to be near his mentally ailing wife. With no intertitles, Teinsosuke Kinugasa conveys the fantasies and memories of the patients with multiple exposures, oblique angles, swish pans, and rapid editing. A mesmerising blend of expressionist and Soviet Montage styles, A Page of Madness is a cinematic tour de force.
