About
Aerial adventure abounds in this lush portrait of an Adriatic Années folles from the acclaimed Studio Ghibli's Academy Award-winning director/animator, Hayao Miyazaki.
The First World War has ended, and ex-fighter ace Porco Rosso, a war hero of the Italian army once known as Marco Pagot, takes to the skies as a (literally) pig-headed bounty hunter, protecting civilians from air pirates and criminals. Porco’s heroism captures the ire of Curtis, an upstart American fighter pilot allied with the pirates, who challenges the flying pig to a dogfight. Preparations for their showdown lead Porco to Fio, a feisty young aeronautical engineer with ideas of her own about winning the fight. With its timeless blend of warmth, style, and charm, Hayao Miyazaki’s tale of aerial romanticism will put you under its spell.
This screening will be in Japanese, with English subtitles.
