About
The story of the Blue Tiger Sauna takes place in the shadows of Macau’s glittering neon casinos, where sauna is a euphemism for brothel and members of the triad serve as debt collectors in the world’s largest gambling den. Ina (Eliz Lao) is the captivating fille fatale at the heart of this neo noir thriller, a musical ingénue who unwittingly gets caught up in the underworld that her boyfriend Chong inhabits. The young lovers belong to rival family dynasties that run Macao’s cutthroat sauna business, but Ina doesn’t have a clue until a brutal murder leaves her responsible for the women who have fallen victim to human trafficking. Seen through Ina’s eyes as a newcomer to Macau, the film offers a feminine, intercultural perspective on the aesthetically rich noir tradition, brought to the screen by Portuguese-Macanese co-directors Bernardo Rao and António Caetano De Faria.
