About
A lovingly crafted biopic, I’m Not There captures musician Bob Dylan and his evolving public personas. Filmmaker Todd Haynes deftly comments on the private and public face of artistic process and celebrity life while deconstructing the traditional form of the Hollywood biopic. The film features ‘the many lives of Bob Dylan’ with each iteration of Dylan representing a part of the musician’s life or persona portrayed by a different actor. The star-studded line-up includes a jaded, cigarette smoking Cate Blanchett in black and white, Heath Ledger as a philandering film actor who disappears at the height of his fame and 14-year-old Marcus Carl Franklin - an incarnation of Bob Dylan who calls himself Woody Guthrie.
