In this goofy cult comedy, then-Saturday Night Live comic Andy Samberg stars as “Hot Rod” Kimble, a dangerously amateur stuntman with lofty ambitions to make a small-town record-breaking motorcycle jump over fifteen buses. However, Rod’s motivation is to raise money to pay for his antagonising stepfather’s heart transplant so he can subsequently get revenge on his own terms. Creatively driven by the Lonely Island team of Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, the film was initially a box office failure but has since been reappraised as one of the best American comedies of the last 20 years. The film's absurdity and off-kilter humour is adeptly handled by a cast that also includes Isla Fisher, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, Ian McShane, and Sissy Spacek.
