When timid farmer Siman (Gunawan Maryanto) stumbles across the filming of a fake moon landing in rural Indonesia in 1962, his world view is forever changed in this visually seductive parable on fake news.
Yosep Anggi Noen’s third feature is a bold experiment in tone and style. It depicts a man destabilised by past events, his days forever stuck in slow motion, mimicking the gait of an astronaut out of Earth’s gravity. Through constant slippages between truth and fiction, Siman’s haunting on-screen presence reveals the social and historical processes that warp our perception of reality in a world ruled by technology.
