About
A kaleidoscopic, head-spinning haunted house story that seems to have been beamed in from another planet, Nobuhiko Ôbayashi's House is one of the premier Japanese cult films. When the father of the young Gorgeous returns from his work trip to announce that he is getting remarried, the affronted Gorgeous travels to her aunt's house with six of her friends. There, they encounter a wild assortment of spirits that cause havoc in increasingly deranged ways. Both nightmarish and delightfully comic, House is imbued with a riotous energy that leaps off the screen with its inventive combination of live action and animated effects.
