About
Despite a paralysed leg that could have barred most avenues of work, the 25 year old Grigris, earns his living with spectacular dance performances. However, dancing doesn’t cover his stepfather’s medical expenses and in desperation, Grigris turns to the local crime boss Moussa who recruits him for his petrol trafficking business. Grigris boasts fresh performances by two first-time actors playing outsiders: Anaïs Monory as the beautiful nightclub hostess Mimi and the magnetic Souleymane Démé as Grigris whose dances sequences are captivating. An impeccably shot feature by Francois Ozon’s cinematographer Antoine Héberlé, the film won a technical award for cinematography at the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival.
