About
Goldstone is the second instalment in Iven Sen's proposed trilogy about Indigenous detective Jay Swan (Aaron Pedersen). In this standalone story – a slow burning rural noir – Swan assists local police officer Josh (Alex Russell) as he investigates a missing Chinese tourist in the remote mining town of Goldstone. After clashing with the local mayor (Jackie Weaver) and a mining executive (David Wenham), Swan's investigation takes him into a corrupt world of human trafficking in outback Australia. Writing, directing, editing, photographing and scoring Goldstone, Sen has created a bold and singular Australian noir. Filmed in the west Queensland settlement of Middleton, it infuses the noir genre with a unique atmosphere that draws from its unforgiving landscapes and its complex indigenous and colonial histories.
