About
The first Australian film to screen in the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam Tiger competition, Friends and Strangers is a drolly absurdist take on contemporary ennui. Writer-director-editor James Vaughan crafts a digressive satire that observes two directionless twentysomethings as they amble through a series of discomfiting vignettes. Featuring strikingly composed cinematography by Dimitri Zaunders, the film blends incisive commentary on post-colonial Australia with witty observations about modern enervation to biting effect.
