About
Fraudis an experimental work that interrogates the documentary format and its ability to reveal larger truths about the world around us. In the late 2000s, director Dean Fleischer-Camp discovered over 100 hours of mundane video footage posted on YouTube documenting the day-to-day life an American family in North Carolina. Using this material uploaded, Fleischer-Camp and editor Jonathan Rippon reshape the footage to fabricate a new story with this real family. The result is a fast-paced and disorienting collage of amateur footage that suggests the family had an unhealthy of obsession with shopping that led to mounting debts and an insurance fraud.
