About
In the dead of winter, police officer Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand) is investigating a chain of events that has left corpses across the bleak small-towns of Minnesota and North Dakota. Jerry Lundegaard (William H Macy) is a car salesman on the verge of bankruptcy. In desperate plan to settle his debt, he enlists two petty criminals (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife and screw over his father-in-law for the ransom. When plans go sour, the situation quickly escalates from the comic to tragic. The breakout film written and directed by Ethan and Joel Coen, Fargo was a sensation on its release and spawned an equally compelling television series. Frances McDormand won the Best Actress Oscar for her quirky and charming role and the darkly comic script won Best Original Screenplay.
