Danish cinematic provocateur Lars von Trier turns the camera on his filmmaking mentor Jørgen Leth in this wily and irreverent documentary. Obstruction is the name of the game as von Trier challenges Leth to remake his 1976 short film The Perfect Human five times, with a different creative hurdle to be overcome each time. This pursuit includes such obstacles as recreating the film as a cartoon and shooting it again “in the worst place in the world”, in an endlessly inventive exploration of not only filmmaking but the pursuit of all artistic expression in the face of adversity.
