About
In 1916, preteen Linda, her hot-headed brother Bill (Richard Gere) and his lover Abby travel from the streets of Chicago to the wheat fields of the Texas Panhandle in search of work. Here Bill and Abby, who claim to be siblings to avoid unwanted attention, become part of a complicated love triangle. Typical of director Terrence Malick's oeuvre, the cinematography pays close attention to the details of the natural world, weaving into his characters' lives sublime images of fields of wheat whispering in the wind and silhouettes of farm labourers toiling against vivid sunsets.
