The third entry in George A Romero’s iconic zombie series, Day of the Dead follows the apocalyptic events of Night of the Living Dead 1968 and Dawn of the Dead 1978. In a missile silo surrounded by zombies, a group of scientists, soldiers and civilians desperately work to save what remains of humanity as tensions inside the silo begin to boil over. One of the scientists – nicknamed Frankenstein – works on his own plan: a scheme to domesticate the undead hordes, exemplified by the docile pet zombie ‘Bub’. Expanding the scope of his previous films, Romero crafts a riveting, melancholy and fantastically gory classic of the horror canon.
