About
In this monster movie classic, marine scientists Mark Williams and David Reed take Kay Lawrence on a river-boat journey into the Amazon jungle to investigate a mysterious archaeological discovery. On reaching the Black Lagoon they discover the Gill Man, an amphibious, prehistoric creature. Provoked by the scientist's intrusion into his domain, and his obsession with the beautiful Kay, the creature begins to murder the cabin crew. Beautifully photographed,Creature from the Black Lagoonwas shot at Universal Studios and on location in Florida where an underwater 3-D camera was pioneered for the film. These sequences capture an erotic interplay between the creature and his beloved. Drawing much of its inspiration from the King Kong stories, the film's beast is equal parts noble savage and murderous monster.
