About
As a documentary cinematographer, Kirsten Johnson has travelled the world extensively and gathered together a visual archive that witnesses key moments of social and cultural discontent. Cameraperson is a powerful memoir that brings together 25 years of documentary filmmaking, with Johnson repurposing outtakes and unused footage shot for other directors and creating a decidedly moving overview of her career and travels. Without narration, the film offers an almost diary-like collage of scenes – what Johnson describes in the opening titles as 'the images that have marked me'.
