About
Bright Star will screen from an archival 35mm print.
Bright Star is a subtle, melancholy portrait of the final years of 19th Century poet John Keats (Ben Whishaw) and his romance with the vibrant Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish). In spite of their contrasting personalities and Keats’s embarrassment over his meagre income as a struggling poet, the relationship between the two gradually blossoms into devoted affection. The film is a refined and tender love story with immaculately realised period detail.
