About
The Australian Cinémathèque presents a Live Music & Film screening of Carl Th Dreyer’s Vampyr 1932, presented in partnership with the Brisbane International Film Festival 2022.
Celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, Vampyr is regarded as one of the early classics of horror cinema. Dripping with dread and imbued with iconic imagery, the film tells the tale of a student in France whose obsession with the occult leads him to a village in which he encounters supernatural occurrences beyond his understanding.
The screening will be accompanied by a newly commissioned soundtrack from band Corporate Vibes, who will perform their score live alongside the film. Corporate Vibes are a semi-experimental, new wave band based between Melbourne and Brisbane. They previously accompanied Jean Grémillon’s The Lighthouse Keepers 1928 at the Australian Cinémathèque in 2020.
