From 1999 to 2009, Tracey Moffatt and her editing collaborator Gary Hillberg produced seven montage videos that survey the enduring dramatic modes and genres of Hollywood cinema. Re-editing and juxtaposing video clips, Moffatt's montage videos create ironic commentary on the clichés of modern life played out in cinema. In Artist, Moffatt and Hillberg consider the creative genius and the trope of the tormented artist in cinema. The Art in turn explores the complex and often perverse nature of the art world.
