About
An inventive and clever documentary that traces the shared history of cameras, weapons, policing and justice. As surveillance technologies become a fixture in everyday life, the film interrogates the complexity of an ‘objective’ point of view.
Director Theo Anthony draws various threads together: from a discussion of the shared terminology for cameras and weaponry (a camera ‘shoots’), to a community meeting calling for more surveillance in a neighbourhood beset by violence, and a revealing interview with spokesperson for weapons manufacturer Axon Industries.
All Light, Everywhere questions the biases we hold about video documentation. In so doing, it examines our readiness to outsource our perception of truth to technology, devaluing our own human capacity as witnesses in the process.
